The Making of a Quilt

I was alone a lot this past winter and in my loneliness decided it was time to make a quilt. So I had been thinking about all these nice embroidered pillowcases and other items that my mom and my grandma had made. So I decided to cut them up and make a quilt containing as many of them as possible so here are the results of that thought. I did not have a pattern to follow just basically layed it all down on my bed and started pining it together in random order. I am pleased with the results and now I have mom and grandma wrapped around me on those cold nights. The begining thoughtsat first I wasn't sure I wanted to cut all of them up but I decided that I could enjoy them more if they were in my site more often...........
This was a pillow case made by my mom Bonnie Faye Compton This was a pillow case made by my grandma Nancy Ann CookThis is a quilt square made by me Beki Denise Steg
This was a scarf made by my grandma Nancy Ann Cook and she gave it to me when I was 12 I have always cherished it as she was teaching me to embroidery and everytime I look at it I remember sitting on her pastic covered couch and her telling me not to rush my stitches take your time and do it right the first time. She was a great teacher and so talented in so many areas. Grandma was so patient with me and always telling me that I was going to be so good at this. I also learned to crochet from her when I was 9 and she told me that my work was perfect. I miss my grandma in so many ways but everytime I start to do a project I hear her voice telling me now take your time and do it right the first time.................Thanks grandma I love you.!

Last month I celebrated my birthday and it was ok for my age. But it seemed like everyone decided the day or week after my birthday was when everyone celebrated..........and thats ok but I received this very very special gift on Easter day............................2 weeks after my birthday I was so surprised by what I found inside, I have cried almost a week now. I would like to thank my beautiful and wonderful children (adults now) for doing this for me. Pictures to catch everyone up Lamp*Easter* & ?

I forgot to put this awsome picture of Great Grandma Steg holding Gabriel.......................She just loves to hold the babies........
A new panel for the upcoming shows.

another Panel for the up coming shows

This one I started a long time ago but I was having a problem finishing it but I am happy with now. There are times that I start a project and it just doesn't seem to go together right so then I set it aside and wait until it talks to me or at least gives me the feeling I can finish it.

This is a shelf that Scott and John talked about making.
I wanted to thank Scott for coming up that weekend and getting excited about the whole thing. Because of you John completed the project and it looks beautiful...........
just look below and see for your self......................

It is perfect for the tv, I love it.

This is a hole in my ceiling...........hmmm you ask why the hole.
Well as everyone who reads my blog knows that I have been working on a Stain Glass Lamp shade, it is finished and I needed help to hang it, thats were my hubby comes in, he decided to use a molly screw and while trying to put the molly screw in he broke it...............lol
I sure was glad my lamp was not on it when it broke.

My lamp sat on the table for a week before it finaly got hung.....................

and now it is hung and I love it, I know were all the mistakes are and I really dont care because it is a project that has been in my mind for 3 years and collecting the glass when I could afford as well as all the other materials it took. I dreamed about, I read books about it, I did my history and then I had to muster up the courage to go forward and just jump in. I had no one to show me tricks or secrets on how to do any of it. So I guess I am the most proud of the way I didnt let any of the snags along the way stop me from completing it.
Thanks Michelle, Bethany for all your support along the way.................

A HAPPY EASTER AT GRANDMA'S

We found eggs and baskets full of Babies at Grandma's this year. What a great way to spend an Easter with Family and Babies........................................................................We had lots of company this year Billy, Bethany, Alex, Brayden, Owen, Billy Jr, Gabriel, Great Grandma Steg, Great Grandpa Steg, Don, Bob, Lynn, and of course the Easter bunny. We had a fun time and everyone had a wonderful meal. Owen said our Easter Prayer and Gabriel sang it out the entire time Owen was talking. I don't think any of the adults knew what Owen was saying but I can tell you it included everyone and God. He blessed us all. A basket full of Gabriel and he seem perfectly alright with it...............smiles for everyone.
Here is daddy Billy helping Billy Jr find the eggs..............I don't think he was having problems but dad wanted to make sure he was getting his fair share. (besides I think dad really misses hunting the eggs) shhh don't say anything.
Billy is very excited about his eggs.

Look behind Owen.............He really wanted to know what was inside his egg before he looked for the other ones.................soo cute

You had to be really quick to get a picture of Alex he was zooming all over the yard like a fast wind.

Brayden was a little speeder too,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he was finding one and looking for the next one. Fast fast fast.

The five boys after dinner and enjoying the last of Easter...................Thank you boys for making grandma's Easter so special...........
GOD BLESS EVERYONE AND I HOPE EASTER WAS A FULL AND FUN FOR YOU AS IT WAS FOR US.............................................THANK YOU !

Currently he is looking for an old car to fix up and call his own.
Betty is currently working as manager of Subway due to the illness of their current manager. This picture was taken right after Betty got off work and she has had 1 day off in 2 weeks. Getting older makes it harder to work those long days.
We all pray that her boss gets well.
